The Four Rules of Gun Safety
The following rules are critically important for anyone to know about firearms and must be observed at all times.
- Treat all guns as if they are always loaded.
- Never point the gun at anything that you are not willing to see destroyed or damaged.
- Keep your finger away from the trigger until you are ready to shoot and have a clear sight picture.
- Be aware of your target and what is behind and around it.
We also frequently give updates and tips for new shooters as well

Basics of Gun Ownership
Firearms are tools and not toys and should be treated with respect and care. In addition to the above suggestions, there are some universal tips that firearms owners should be aware of:
- Never chamber ammunition that your firearms were not designed for, if in doubt consult the owners guide, the manufacturer, or a knowledgeable gunsmith. Few calibers are interchangeable even if they are able to chamber into the gun. If you don’t trust me, trust Mark Novak on this.
- Never shoot a gun with an obstructed barrel as it may lead to injury and damage to the firearm.
- Familiarize yourself with the controls of your firearm and how to clean and disassemble it properly.
- Familiarize yourself with your local laws and regulations surrounding firearms and their storage. This can vary widely from state to state.

Andrew F. Branca, Esq.
The Law of Self-Defense
While training with your firearm is vitally important, the legality of defensive firearms use is not often discussed in depth. Andrew Branca specializes in self-defense law and runs a YouTube channel that is highly educational and should be regular viewing for anyone who wishes to be better informed about self-defense law.

Tom Grieve Esq.
Another excellent follow for pro Second Amendment information on YouTube. He is a former criminal prosecutor and now runs a criminal defense law firm, along with regularly posting highly educational content on his channel.

Armed Attorneys
A great regular resource for legal education on self-defense and Second Amendment Laws, run by two Texas based defense attorneys. They often post discussions of various situations, case law, and Second Amendment issues.

Adam Kraut - The Big 2A on TGC
Finally, back from a long hiatus, Adam Kraut was the first name I found on YouTube discussing firearms law seriously with “The Legal Brief”. He left to focus on other projects, such as the Second Amendment Foundation, but has now returned to YouTube again on The Gun Collective with a new show “The Big 2A”.

The Armed Scholar
The Armed Scholar follows and reports on many Second Amendment cases as they work their way through the legal system. His coverage is a great way to stay up to date on various legal challenges and changes.

Second Amendment Organizations
In years past I would have recommended support for the NRA and left it at that. However, there are now a growing number of organizations that are working to further the protection of the Second Amendment.
If you are able, I would recommend reviewing the work of the following organizations and supporting one or more that you think has had the most positive impact on the Second Amendment.
The National Rifle Association

TSA Firearms Guidelines
If you need to fly with a firearm you can refer to the TSA’s rules and regulations for flying with one at the link below. However, there is more to it than just the TSA guidelines, each airline may have different rules in place, and you should confirm with your airline ahead of time when flying with a firearm. I recommend the lecture from Deviant Ollam to the right for an in-depth breakdown of the experience of flying with a firearm. A legal cheat sheet from him is also available here. I recommend diving into some of his other videos on security as he is a penetration tester by trade (he gets paid to try to break into secure things).
Gun Owner Resources - Training
Paul Harrell
Paul Harrell was a criminally underappreciated gun YouTuber until shortly before his passing. However, his work remains online, and his family continues to produce content for his channel. I highly recommend giving his work a look.
Ben Stoeger
Ben Stoeger is an IPSC World Champion and multiple time USPSA National Champion, his YouTube hosts a number of his classes. While there’s no complete replacement for competent, in person training. These videos are some of the few serious training materials available online.
Range Day - T.Rex Labs
An app that has various drills and courses of fire with video explanations of each one. Very nice for a free app that you can bring to the range with you very easily to train with and get an idea of where your skill set is.
